Re: What Ham Radio stuff did you buy today!!!!!!
Well i will start the post off with this Ten tec corsair i picked up.
It's been on test for a day or so now i bought this as a none tested radio and all is looking well with it as you can see the old radio look's like it been stored away for a few years and it previous owner must of been a heavy smoker as it's coved in nicotine so i think its about time i give the poor thing a dam good clean up.
A as well as that i picked up a non working Tokyo HY-Power HT-110 it's still not 100% yet but i will get it working soon

Well i was looking at some simple monoband dipoles and verticals but i thought no, they won't work at ground level in my garden so i picked up a Luso 36 crank up tower and an optibeam i found on ebay. Amazing how quick those japanese guys put it up.
...and then i woke up

Re: What Ham Radio stuff did you buy today!!!!!!
I just bought an Alinco DJ-V57E, along with a dry-cell battery holder and external speaker mic.
Not wanting to spend too much on my first dual-bander handie and sticking with a brand I'm familiar with, I decided to go with Alinco over the multitude of Chinese manufactured radios which seem to be springing up in every corner of eBay just recently. Whether I made a good choice, only time will tell.
Reading the PDF version of the manual however, something I found interesting is the "Transmitter Detection Function" as per attached jpg. I've never stumbled on a radio with this feature before.
...sounds intriguing.
