A RARE CLEGG FM-88 2 mtr Transceiver BUT I NEED SOME TEC

Post by Ashtec » 16 Mar 2010, 19:57

Heres a RARE Vintage CLEGG FM-88 2 mtr Transceiver 143-149 mhz(5 mhz steps)
I took delivery of this radio today from EBAY as I bought some old equipment that had been stored for ages due to a silent key.
On testing found that receiver is working , although signals seem a little down on what I am used to with my new equipment......but also found that their is no OUTPUT......could be a simple fix or possible output stage gone down !..Seem to remember reading that this unit used alot of Uniden parts ?
This is a early radio with digitally synthesized PLL system
I have not seen one of these before and should think very rare in uk?.......would be a very nice unit fully working, cosmetic`s are pretty good for its age, comes with original mic-power lead and a detactable mounting bracket.
When in operation this should put out around 1 to 25 watts variable.
So can eney one help me fix it at all.
:D :D :D :D :D :D

Have you scoped the TX chain to see which part is failing?

Edit:

Manual with service details is here:
Manual clicky linky

Run through the TX aligment until you spot the error.

Bumping old thread...

I had one. Good radios. But then it's a uniden.

Gave it away as a raffle prize at our local ARC over Xmas

I suggest getting this serviced by the infamous Blackspirit. Then you can claim to have a Nick Clegg!

:D
