Wetherby Taxis?

Post by scanhermit »

I'm getting a taxi firm with a lot of Wetherby-centric pick-ups on 165.5mhz (base station). I can't find it on an ofcom search. I'm presuming that it's Wetherby - the YOI comes through loud and clear from there, I hear nowt from Knaresborough and there's the square root of bugger all beyond airband stuff out here in the sticks. Anyone out there know more than me?

Hey Mr Hermit get your self a nice vhf folded dipole and you will hear a lot more than a white stick thingy any day and remember to go as hi as you can. surely you can get the radphone trunk from there and 181.075, 181.6875, 181.2875, those 3 alone will keep you going on a weekday with salacious gossip and slander.

Hello all, thanks for the info and suggestions. Not scanned much of late thanks to being busy.

YOI has indeed gone DMR. No announcement but I don't hear em now. I have managed to pick up bus networks from York and Humberside, skip companies, York OAP wardens and a few others. Huddersfield 2m repeater comes through nicely too.

I pick up Linton and Leeming approach stuff as well as London Mil Air.

Not even put up a white stick yet, Phil. In rented acommo so have to be careful what I stick up.

I suppose I'll go funcube once the xlt125 becomes a silent brick.

Listening in to the same firm, which isn't Dees but is in Wetherby, one of the drivers sounds just like Barbara in The League of Gentlemen

I've held off software defined because I wanted to be able to take a handheld out and about with me on the push bike rather than it be something else that glues me to a chair.

It may not be long - a lot of traffic seems to have gone quiet of late. Perhaps DMR is on an exponential curve now.

You can snag a brand new TYT380/Retevis RT3 for £80 delivered now, yes, you have to know the frequencies, CCs etc, but a 1000 channels make it a great DMR monitor. Rather than paying a grand for one of the digital scanners, an eight quid TV dongle with some free software and an eighty quid handie can be equally effective if you're into DMR.
