Best sites for SY.

Clifton/Braithwell area is good for Doncaster/Rotherham and great take off to NE. A few masts around there. 900 Comms run 2 UHF CBS ch's (only ones in SY) from there, so might not be accommodating.

Ridgeway Road is the best site for Sheffield, covers most of the valley's in Sheffield and also good for Rotherham.

Woodhead Road, Grenoside, Sheffield also a good site for blanket coverage of SY, shielded in some areas of Sheffield though. Aquiva and Electricity board masts there.
What about the zycomm band3 i would have thought that would have sucked everyone up or is it too much money

Ridgeway Road does look good will put that on my list
Zycomm only have the site at Alport Heights, Matlock area. They do have Band III 200Mhz licensed at High Bradfield, but they've never used it (too many holes in coverage from that site anyway).

Noticed a new control channel today on 180.9125. A quick check reveals it to be a single channel site with voice on the control channel frequency.

SYSID is 50D3. Main users appear to be a haulage/tipper company (001 1000-1020) however, there were lots of ident's registering.

Users seem to be around the East Yorks area so I assume the site is up there somewhere. Coverage does seem to be comparable to High Hunsley from my location.

It begs the question, is it Fleetcomm or not. If so, I wonder if it's a new setup for the 'new' net.
Me again, did you ever figure out who the users are
There aren't many users on this system, most are East of York, a few skip/haulage firms. Nice signal though from this site.

The only problem with Ridgeway is high RF, lots of small Taxi masts but the main Utility mast has a 5 channel band 3 system on it for buses and looks quite full. Perhaps a bit of room at the top.

Another good site is Raeburn Place flats Gleadless in Sheffield. Nice mast on the roof already and has a very good view across the city. Supertram used to use it for Band3 but now use it for their 420MHz MPT system.

Plot looks good too. Band3 3db Omni antenna at 220m asl. Building 42m agl to a 1.5m mobile.

and they have the sysid of 2489 which is not the same range as 2449 wonder when the dumb Baxxxxds will figure that out

180.450 poor signal to me, also its a same pair as emley so any vehicle on a voice call with emley might here this cc if they are close enough to it, top hole.

Yes 2489 is ID for 180.450.

I think they have a dodgy combiner at the Emley site, some of the voice channels are half the strength of others. Why they are paying Ofcom for 8 voice pairs at Hunsley and Emley is beyond me.

Also I wonder how much they are paying in site rent for Emley Moor, surely not making a profit?

its going to be 20 grand a year i would have thought to be on top of there, why the hell they aint got all the taxis on but then again they want too much money, cheaper for us to set our own systems up, madness, just focusing on my vhf trunk system at the moment customers waiting, then will crack on with the band 3 just moving sites and licences round then full speed ahead.
