Major new assignments to Arqiva in West Mids

Post by Minus1 »

76 frequencies in the lower segment of Band 3, in the West Midlands, have been assigned to Arqiva.

http://spectruminfo.ofcom.org.uk/spectr ... nd+licence

The frequencies are assigned by 50km squares, but there are 4 adjacent squares. Hence the list appears 4 times longer than it really is.

Here is a tidied and sorted list:

A quick check of the band has not found any of these freqs in use at present.

Arqiva currently have the contract to run the radio network for West Midlands Travel (buses), and this is due to expire next year, so I suspect this is a planned upgrade. The current network only uses 43 frequencies.

Interesting. Ofcom are trying to clear upper Band III (200MHz) so I guess they are just reprogramming. The big jump in frequencies is interesting though.

This net has begun to be used. As expected it's buses.

Active control freqs at present are 178.9625 180.0125 180.5

Only active voice freq I have heard is 179.5875 , which from my location seems to have the same signal strength as 178.9625 control freq

The new network is up and running but strangely the licence has disappeared from the WTR.

Anybody found a source showing which freq from each mast site or been able to work it out?
