' Electrical tape will loose its stickiness and unravel Collector ^^ = just use a white cable tie to stop the tape unravelling, and cut off the excess when tied, keeping it a tidy install ;)

're bolting through the antenna tubes at joints, does anyone feel two bolts straight through would be any better than 4 self tapping stainless screws .

Screws can work loose with the too-ing and fro-ing in the wind. Taping over them would help a bit, or try using some threadlock glue on them.

If bolting, use stainless fixings if possible and use either anti-vibration washers or nyloc nuts ;)

45,

I've personally never added radials to a 5/8th's but did have a Hy-Gain Golden Penetrator 5/8th's back in the day. The radials were horizontal and I believe they improved the low take-off angle which is the main benefit the 5/8th's has over a 1/2 wave. I do not know if the radials help with impedance matching.
