horz & vert..questions

Post by Zero58 »

I'm running a Moxon beam 10/11 Horz. split..for dx it works great..but..I need to set up a vertical antenna for locals, and as a monitor antenna. My Question is..can I mount the vertical above the Moxon on the same mast or tower..or will the vertical antenna show too much rejection because of the ground plane radials...having 2 antennas more of less stacked on the same mast/tower..will one interfere with the other! Thank You.

As a general rule, ¼wave or greater separation is required but more is better. When too close, antennas that resonate on the same band can interact causing a change in the resonance point, bandwidth and swr. Also very likely it would change the radiation pattern of a yagi.

Put 1/2 wave antenna, no radials, no interfere.
Question is: if your rotator can handle bending effect under wind.
