This is the place to discuss any general CB radio related topics. Getting started, installations, operation etc.

I always thought 148s would be a nice little earner for anyone in the forces who could fly them in from overseas but I presume the bulk of them came in lorries with frozen beef or legit imports like the stealth models.
From memory they were £150 round here. That was a -13- version with nothing done to it. To add UK channel block, splits & the bleep switched was £30 back then!

Good old inflation huh.

The 148's were considered the dogs danglies back in the early 80's. In fact they held their own until the 2830's and Lincoln's came out and even then still commanded a good price second hand.

Price brand new? I guess it was supply and demand. It was a premium radio back in the day so will have sold new at a premium price. No doubt the risk factor of getting caught with a shipment would have bumped up the price a bit too.
Never, ever, ever....bloody anything ever!

Far too many radio's to list here. But I do own a legal one...
