recommend me a new antenna
I have a Sirio 827 on the mast at the moment.
It works well but I fancy a change, well it is part of the hobby of course.
I have been looking at a few antennas and now turn to the forum for advice and experience.
the short list but open to others opinions.
Super Preditor 500 by Hy-gain
Vortex Quasar Q82 a very expensive Vector 4000 ?
Vortex Quasar Q64 .64 wavelength
Any advice on my short list or other antennas I have have overlooked.

Not worth the effort imo for ground wave. For DX go for 5-7 element yagi.
You can't have too many antennas...

Re: recommend me a new antenna
Hi ch25 thanks for the comments , I have a 100ft wire doublet antenna for HF this is just for 11/10m vertical
Those Yagi antenna's take up a big foot print in the sky and may even extent passed my property lines.
I really couldn't dig another 1m cube hole to reset the mast, I still need to keep a happy wife.
Happy to listen and learn from experience.

Happy wife needs good banging as far as i know, but whatever suits yours
Mine not so long time ago was helping me erect 30m tower for 30/40m beam, but as wise man said: everyone have wife he deserved, isn't it?

Antron.
Ok ok...I was joking!!!!!!
Anything big that can take abuse from the wind if you live in an exposed area.
There have been several topics on this subject in the last couple of years, so maybe a quick search will give you a list of about 8 good possibilities.

Interesting this something I was looking at.
This was why back then I went for the 827- looking for something different that might give better ground waveThe Collector wrote: ↑17 Jun 2018, 09:07Antron.

The antron 99 would make a difference.
It would be worse.
I don't think you will find a vertical that will work noticeably better than the 827. Either get it up higher ot get a bigger linear.

There is no such thing as a Fidelity 1000 which is too good to scrap.

Re: recommend me a new antenna
Maybe an ali vertical antenna with 4 longer ground plane legs like the Super Penatrator 500 or others mentioned, will work better for you Ur5by9 than the 827.One of the locals 25 mile away swears the S.P.500 is better than his 827 up on his tower, and he has an original and a new mfj hy gain model aswell, both beat the 827 on groundwave, not by much upto 50 mile but upto 100+, the S.P.500 can hear what is in the noise with the 827,he also tried a S.G.M. that was quickly replaced, can only believe him eh.

Re: recommend me a new antenna
i had better results using 1/4 wavelength ground elements on verticals than 1/8 wavelength . but the difference isn't worth the cost of a sirio vector 4000 and it's weak construction . adding/upgrading to a beam would be the best bang for the buck .
