Altai DMC510

Post by dt630 »

Afternoon all.
I have just been digging in an old junk box & found a Altai DMC510 power mic.
It looks if it takes a AA battery.
It's a bit on the grubby side but I think it will clean up nicely.
It's worth the effort to clean & put a battery in.
What are they like audio wise.
Any experience you have of these mics would be appreciated.

Thanks

These old Altai DMC510's aren't half bad. A tried and tested old school power mic that's served many people well over the last three decades.

Definitely worth a clean up and a new battery! :D
Never, ever, ever....bloody anything ever!

Far too many radio's to list here. But I do own a legal one...

I have a couple here. I don't rate them to be honest and the elements usually get removed to fix up other non running mics.

Or they go with radios being sold.

My first power mic in the 70's, they came with different style grills & brand names over the years 1.5v & 9v versions but all more or less the same inside,

sound nasally/restricted bandwidth in stock form, i used to mod them in the 70's & early 80's, changed a few capacitors to give more bass & trebble,
also used the small amplifier boards found in these mics in several homebrew base mics with good results.

Thanks guys.
I'll get out the tooth brush & splash out on a new battery &
put on my old Harrier CBX & see if I can find anyone to talk to.

Thanks

As wa10 said, they always sounded a bit bassy and muffled. I always took the paper/material cover off the front of the mic' element which cleared it up a tad :)

They used to cost a tenner for good reason.

They sound just like a cheap replacement mic, only a bit louder.
