Thinking about it......more like £2,we pay at least 5 times more in the U.K. than others pay for same radios in Hong Kong.
Plenty are talking worldwide on 27.555 usb,
Some are too far up their own @rse to admit it,
Many happen to know otherwise dx-ing test free,
Showing a complete lack of respect for the law.

In the UK we pay more than anywhere else on the planet!

This tax, that tax, tax on tax. Ridiculous.

I think we'll be seeing a new SSB radio from President in the coming months. Both the Grant 2 and The Jackson 2 had some bad press due to the various problems on them. The McKinley appears to have nothing but good reports so it would be a good idea to bring out a version with FM for the EU markets.

Personally I don't think the G2 looks bad at all. The screen is a good size and displays all the info clearly. The new McKinley doesn't appeal to me much though.

The Mckinley is fugly, but as long as it works well it will sell. Having a such a small speaker is bound to affect the incoming audio quality.

We accept the shortcomings and quirks of the Bumfeng-type sets because they are dis-proportionately cheap compared to the premium brands, but when you ask top Dollar for a set then it needs to be spot on, the G2 was not. It was buggy and not properly tested before release, a great way to destroy your reputation.
Even if you could still find some NOS why would you take a chance when a second-user HF set is similarly priced?

The very early G2's were appalling going on what people have said. Static bursts, phantom mic keyer's, very low power output... The "V2" was slightly better with a few bugs sorted out and the availability of UK 40 without having to add a switch to the back. The G2 Premium is actually a very good radio (I own one). No more RX issues and the TX power is significantly higher if the user chooses to tweak it up a bit.

I sold my G2 V1 because it just didn't perform well enough. The Premium outperforms it on every aspect. Sadly, as has been mentiined before, the early version did the damage which continued to overshadow the G2 Premium.

What's next in the bag from President? Who knows? But hopefully they'll have learned a lesson from all this and the Lincoln 2 fiasco.

I had two V2 Grants, the first was terrible, the second was ok but not great. Never bothered with the premium due to the price.
