All the best with the rocking NP.....I'm sure you'll be prowling about the frequencies again at some stage when the times right bud

Re: Goodbye radio
Afraid I can't talk you out of it, I have been concentrating on one of my other hobbies recently and haven't TX'd for a good few months, I sometimes have a scanner going in the background, but radio in general has hit its seven year ebb again for me.

Re: Goodbye radio
But what is it about radio that keeps us in it's clutches?!? I've had quite a few hobbies over the years and none has captivated me like CB/freeband radio...I haven't been without a radio or some kind of setup in over 31 years.
I used to be into radio controlled airplanes. Started off with the guideline planes then went all out and bought a remote control setup. Great fun while it lasted (2 years) but very costly! Funny thing now is that I have no interest whatsoever in the hobby, and never will again.
Can't explain it, wish I could - There is something 'magical' about picking up the mic and having a chat to someone. Of course, I count myself lucky because I do actually have some people to talk to, but even when it goes dead round here every now and then I still monitor whilst I'm working at home etc..
Most of my collection has gone now, I'm down to 20(!) radio's but the ones I have kept look good on my shelf and get rotated every month or so. In time, even they will be sold but I will always have a radio - As I said, there's something that always pulls me back.

Re: Goodbye radio
Funny thing is I went to start emptying the shack today but when I walked in I didnt know where to start, Too much stuff everywhere so I sat down and put 555 on and I was amazed to hear local voices. I just dont know where to start, If I had a camera I could take some photos and sell a few of them but my camera died and my mobile phone is from the arc. When I do get around to it I might just leave one setup in the kitchen, Believe it or not that was my wifes idea. Yep radio is in the blood, I have also been running a 15W pirate radio station on 104.4 FM for the last 12 months, I might keep that going.
