Ham International Jumbo is another in the same stable, same radios, different names, some black, some silver, some a goldie finish to the front, Cybernet board, some have audio out problems, muffly, but there was/is a mod for that. Others with more knowledge on these will be able to tell you more. CRT now do a version as well.

I have a early dirland galaxy saturn , have had it for many years now, I keep trying other radios even the later galaxys ,galaxy saturn turbo jumbos ect , But keep returning back to my old dirland galaxy saturn ,My repair/tuner man told me that this radio was as near to a cobra 148dx as a homebase radio you can get .

The Jumbo and Excalibur are pretty much the same but the Saturn is a different animal.
The Saturn IMO is a much better radio because it uses a 3900 board instead of a Cybernet.

The President Franklin was another 3900 based version.

I've got a Galaxy Saturn that I bought from another TM1 user (mrpsychopath). Really nice radio to use. Not sure if I'd really want to sell it at the moment but I'll give you a shout if I ever do decide to part with it.

Simon took the words right out of my mouth .

Forget the Excalibur . Stick to the Ranger versions like the Saturn . Saying that it has about 20 clones , including the Jopix 2000 and Superstar SSB . Go for the earlier Taiwan version , and not the later Chinese one . There's also a high power version (HERCULE) . And then there's the newer Ranger 29XX somethings . You can still buy those new from the States .

At the end of the day they're just your standard twin final 3900 with counter and psu .
