Unless you are a collector of vintage 40 channel AM CBs with mediocre performance:

1. Find a scrap export radio with a good board (even a PTBM059 will do).
2. Rip the guts out of the Kris.
3. Transplant the export board into the Kris body.
4. Enjoy a cool looking radio that actually does something.

It's not the one that was bought by someone on here as part of a job-lot recently was it? Think they may be selling them all on ebay.

Buying and hoarding CB radio's is an illness

I picked up one a little while ago on eBay . looked like it was just shelved and sold off .
I stripped the case and primed and painted it gloss black again .
Oh yes, I did power it up and all controls work . audio and meters but almost dead TX .
My tech has brought it back to life and just has to slightly straighten the channel selector . its a little sticky . Another one saved !!!
I think I paid 30.00 for it . 👍

It was a bargain for £30, so long as you haven't spent more than another £20 getting it sorted.

One of the best-looking radios that don't do a lot.

Stick a scrap Cobra 148 gtl-dx's guts inside, modify a few controls and you'd have a cracker!

 My KRIS XL-50 is working great ! My tech is an amazing electronics communication repair guy !
May be just a 40 channel cb mobile , but its a neat looking radio . Solid 4.5 watts rf out , dead key and receives great !
One transistor had to be replaced along with some caps etc .
