JENTEC is a pseudo acronym like Amstrad, Alan Michael Sugar Trading, Jentec is John (no idea what the E is, Eric, Edward??) Nugent Technology, he, and ultimately his Team converted CBs to go way out of band via EEPROMs and made them look nice and scan and fancy stuff for the early 90's. Some hardcore CBers consider a Jentec converted radio to be the Holy Grail, many others think the UFO box was better than having your radio dremeled and hacked about with, horses for courses, I personally wouldn't pay £400 for a MK5 Jentec when the same money would get me a decent HF radio.

I can understand why they are collectable, but I would rather have a standard 148 GTL-DX or 360FM

Or a Mk1 Lincoln if wider coverage was needed.

There is no such thing as a Fidelity 1000 which is too good to scrap.

Fact is they're 35 year old radios that have had more tools inside them than a 1970s Swedish porn actress. As admiral says for the sort of cash they sell for i'd rather get me something that says yaesu on the front for the same conkers

Exactly this. I bought a MK4 Jentec off Gumtree for £100. It caused a bit of a stir at the time. But I can safely say that I was underwhelmed by the radio. It wasn't butchered or abused, but it wasn't really that good. Yes, back in the day it was years ahead of its time, but those years have passed. Radio's like the Lincoln MK1 came along and put the Jentec to bed.
Never, ever, ever....bloody anything ever!

Far too many radio's to list here. But I do own a legal one...

I would be interested to know what the kit that John Nugent made for the Stalker 9fdx was like.
