Hi chaps when I switch to pa should there be sound coming through same as when I haven't switched over. or should there be no sound till I speak .

Should be no sound but if a mod has been done for extra channels then there may have used the pa switch to activate them

When you switch to PA the RX audio will go off and only your voice will be heard through the PA speaker when you TX, Your voice should not be heard through the internal speaker.
