Well, think of it this way . . . the Halloween AM net is a warm up exercise, for the legal FM net, a few days later

Re: Halloween AM net
I shall try to make the effort again this year.
Hopefully there will be some activity in Derbyshire on or around ch14. Dead as a doornail last year....

Re: Halloween AM net
Was on last night 14 at times suggested .managed two contacts. One guy in oldbury sandwell west mids,a second earlier who said hello but obviously didn't want to talk lol and never transmitted again.
I will try again next year ,see if I can drag a couple of mates on too by then.
I actually like the am modulation and noise better than fm.
Propper radio.
Until next year

Re: Halloween AM net
Dead loss on the hills of Derbyshire for me. Was on from 7pm till nearly 9pm...
All I could hear on 14 was the North West net on USB.
No signs of anyone else on AM. There were 2 locals on FM on channel 4, but that was it. Washout.
Ah well.... try again next year

Re: Halloween AM net
So.....
Anyone interested in the Halloween AM net this year??
All being well I will be on again from about 18.30 til 21.00, probably hopping around from ch14 to ch19.
QTH will be near Belper in Derbys.

Re: Halloween AM net
Last year, some mean spirit was sidebanding on FCC channel 14. I was only running my humble Commtron IV, so I couldn't tell if it was a wizard or an ogre
I will be more suitably tooled up, this year

I'll make sure to fire up the old Cobra 19GTL that day, QTH either Congleton home base or mobile on high ground near Mow Cop. Been monitoring for a few days since recapping/de-gluing and it's pulling in plenty of RF hash but so far not even "daffy duck" on sideband... Would sound pretty spooky though.

Re: Halloween AM net
Well if all else fails just run a few hundred watts on AM and make street lights flicker
That was a joke by the way. I'd be up for an AM net but I'll be working that day.

Re: Halloween AM net
Have monitored AM a little while this afternoon, only activity to speak of though was Johnny in Eire speaking to his mate on 19 but was not in an ideal spot... Will try again in a short while from high ground, anyone hears some weirdo still using AM calling from Mow Cop please shout back and humour me haha
EDIT- 11pm and not a sausage, not even sideband lol... Ah well, managed a nice chat with the mrs on the way home on FM

Re: Halloween AM net
Yup, the Halloween net was completely dead
Next year, we need Delboy on board, to drum up some publicity
I'm sure the Capri Ghia would have had a hooky Auntie Mary, instead of a pukka Harrier CBX!
