valve's for a linear amp uk ranger 811A

Where can i get some valve's for a linear amp uk ranger 811A as ive melted the old one's in a day so im on the look out for some to put back in it.
I did ring uk amp's up and they whant £49each and there is 4 of them to replace SO IM LOOKING AT £200+ to replace them but i was told i can get them for about £18-20 each but i can not fined them on the net at all for that ive only had the amp for about 2 day's :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

bloody CBers..stick with zetagi's paul, at least you could build a brick shithouse with the blown ones..!!

do a search on ebay for them, worldwide, you may find them in the ukraine or similar.

Had a ranger 811a myself mate and did not find the valves very forgiving !! ended up getting shot off it and picked up a lovely excellently built semi homebrew valve amp running a pair off 813`s much more forgiving in the tuning dept !!

picked up one off these pulse tuners an although I have not used it yet supposdly makes tuning up a doddle and much safer !!

as mark says sure russia is the cheap source off valves these days ??

replace the 811's with 572's, you'll not blow them up in a hurry.
straight swap too!
there's plenty of 572's on the 'bay.
my 2x572 FL2100z will keep up with your 3x811 ranger, and I haven't managed to break that yet!

matched quad of 811's are listed at $89 from rf-parts

"An antenna with a poor ground using few radials cannot have a support mast grounded to the radial common point (at least it shouldn't if designed properly) There is no exception to this!

I have a linear amp uk, ranger 811h with Russian 811 valves in it.
they have been in use since 2004 with no trouble.

Ash,

How much power were you using to tune the amp up?

You should be using half of your transceivers power IE 50W.
