Around here it seems to depend how high a voltage you are dealing with, one company will work at street level into the company fuse, another with 33kV etc and another contractor to deal with the overhead HV grid. The only time I've caught any of them on the radio was when they were replacing the HV lines and they were using PMR446. (please read this promptly in case it is deleted)
