Re: Edinburgh Festival
All the big venues are digital. Lots of PMR446 and UK General activity for smaller venues. Would give the BF-888S standard frequencies a go too as seen them in smaller venues.
Last year I found:
453.9750 Pleasance Dome
453.8250 Pleasance Courtyard
455.5750 Courtyard Technical
453.2125 Gilded Balloon
453.2625 and 453.1375 are possibly the tech channels for dome and balloon, although didn't decode, think they had activity though.

Re: Edinburgh Festival
Thanks for that, would be very interested if you find anything out at the weekend.
Up there next week, but probably won't have time / be allowed to do any decoding with DSD! Too many shows to see. Will give last years config a go though.
As an aside, I assume fireground in Scotland is still analogue? There always seems to be several fire incidents during the fringe...

Thank you very much for that, should save me taking the laptop or tablet! I had 453.2125 down as CC13 last year, otherwise all as per 2016.elliotg wrote:SEscanner you are spot on for venue ID's. Here is the info for this year.

Talkgroups still in the 1500-1515 range?
Talkgroups last year seemed to follow the Pleasance channel numbering of:
Ch1: Dome Bars (1501)
Ch2: Dome Security (1502)
Ch3: Courtyard Bars (1503)
Ch4: Courtyard Security (1504)
Ch5: Courtyard Technical (1505)
Ch6: Dome Technical - Not heard, but you can guess! hopefully this may be the 453.2625 channel that is new to me.
Probably won't get much chance to play so I really appreciate the updates.

Not sure about what the other big venues Assembly and Underbelly use, they certainly have Motorola UHF DMR Radios. Couldn't find anything in a quick search around, but there were a few cap+ beacons around, so maybe they use cap+.
The Stand in the new town have had VHF DMR radios for the last two years.

Re: Edinburgh Festival
You won't if it can't decipher the codes to open up the audio.
Listening to the frequencies listed and they're going great guns just now. I noticed that the frequency for Pleasance courtyard is also listed as forth road bridge control. The users are a bit lacking in radio etiquette I notice!

Re: Edinburgh Festival
Well, being one of a handful of the members of this forum who have the AOR AR DV1, it's the scanner I use. But you'll need good budgeting skills as they are still over the £1K mark. Next up is the whistler trx2 or trx1, and the uniden bct 536hp/ 436hp priced at between the £470 - £800 mark. Or if you can, an sdr dongle for your computer and go from there. But be advised, the aor does more than the other 2 mentioned. Also best to read the sections in the scanner listing of this forum.
