East Forune Air Show 1017

Post by Neil6147 »

Quick Update.
Red Arrows have cancelled due to bad weather. And looking like nothing will be up in the air today for the public to watch.

Plus Red Arrows have also cancelled Sunderland due to weather.

Stu and I turned up to the "Naughty Field" for the usual photographing of the display and the scanner listening. The organisers should have seen the long term weather forecast and binned it. Either a refund in full or tickets exchanged for next year without quibble. Playing devils advocate, the NMS will now say to those who turned up and want a refund "Well, you got a display of sorts". We did see the Piper Club struggling against wind shear alongside the rain, and I'm reliably informed that the Phoon showed up, but you could only hear it!
Both Stu and I binned it citing the conditions and the call offs (quite rightly so).
I have seen on aviation sites, the NMS getting pilloried about this fiasco. The weather is outwith their control. Here's hoping that next year, the show goes on unhindered.
Roll on Prestwick is all I can say!
You can never have enough radios!

Phoon only did a fly-past at Sunderland too due to weather I was told.
