Both Ambulance & Firebrigade will be TETRA, however you may have some luck with the on scene freqs which the fire brigade use

Hi Liam

Thanks for posting those freqs, i will try all of them to see if i get any luck. i know the police here in n.ireland are TETRA but not sure if the fire and ambo services have went this way yet so these will be well worth trying..

many thanks

HI GUYS

just a quick message to say ive heard some activity on one of the frequencies that were posted

so the fire brigade here must still be using handhelds that arent airwave/tetra.

thanks again..

The handhelds that they use are for on scene comms, they will be using airwave radios to talk to control and get despatch info from control.

Yeah it seemed to be some sort of radio test they were doing on it, maybe just to check coms on it.

so good to know they are still using them as everything else is going tetra.

thanks again for their frequency list mate.

Sadly TETRA has phased out the days of listening to fire/ambulance/police radios. Unfortunately there is no legal way to listen to TETRA radios without a policeman knocking on your door!

Out of interest Stevie, what frequencies did you pick up activity on? I've been monitoring 457.03750 but having no luck.

Listen out on all of the above freqs, the firetrucks have to be pretty close though, 457.03750 have been active in my area before when there was a nasty accident outside the house.

hi bannside

the primary channel which you have been monitoring is ths one ive been geeting quick hits on, mainly evening time.

but to be honest the range doesnt seem to be great on there radios. it seems to be them checking or testing them in the evening time. i never hear anything on it during the daytime..

Was in the Coleraine area one evening and got a short hit on 457.0375

on it since,

They only use tetra to link up with other agencies i think like psni and ambulance. i think their comms to each other are still old motorola gp analogue radios. though it was quite a while ago if you read the dates on my posts so it could have changed. i know a couple of the firemen in Coleraine so i might ask them.

if it wasnt them using the frequency then i havent a clue who it could have been.

Just found out 457.03750 is used by the brigade in NI as the frequency for the Breathing Apparatus sets. They transmit from the sets to an Entel handheld radio which the BA controller carries. You literally have to be within 0.5-1 mile to hear any comms. All other communications are made via Tetra.

Hi Bannside

Thanks for that info. that would explain the hit i got on that frequency some time ago as i was within that range of the Fire station that day.

thanks again
