Have the Fire Brigade changed frequencies or have they gone onto Tetra or similar?

I'd like to know the answer to that as well. I could sometimes hear them from here in Ayrshire when the conditions were right, but haven't heard them for some time. They did use between 155 and 155.9875 nfm.

What's the story with Airwave? I take it that it's a digital system..?

Airwave is kind of similar to the mobile phone network we all use, but on lower frequencies and on a completely independent system.

The police have digital mobile phone like 'walkie talkie' capabilities. It's pretty impressive and unfortunately encrypted.
