Post by AshtonMobileScanner »

Hey guys ive been searching around on the internet for Bolton MRT Repeater on Winter Hill but cant seam to find any frequencies, but ive found out that Bowlands MRT have a repeater located on Winter Hill and they have allowed Bolton MRT access to it anytime Bolton MRT need to use it.

Problem is I cant seam to find any further information to do with frequencies at the Winter Hill site.

Marine Digital? Seems daft, when they'll still need to maintain analogue comms for inter-operability anyway.

Anyone else feel its a case of 'Digital for Digital's sake' ? :-/

Yes. My experience is that digital is fine if you have a very strong signal. Volume control is erratic and annoying. Weak signals are unusable - when an equivalent analogue signal would work fine.

Some vague info about the 2017 changes from Scottish Mountain Rescue.
I anticipate the new SAR frequencies will use the currently mostly empty 155 MHz band, so if you live in an area busy for SAR, start searching that band.

Found his a few days ago https://www.boltonmrt.org.uk/2012/09/12 ... scue-team/

So looks like there is a VHF Repeater sited on Winter Hill run by Bowlands MRT who allow Bolton MRT use of it. Might not be standard UKSAR frequencies.

It is worth checking out licences listed in the WTR against the name of a radio supply company, rather than the actual user.
This one for example: http://spectruminfo.ofcom.org.uk/spectr ... nd+licence

There's also a SARCOMM VHF repeater (up on Lyme park I think). CAP+ and RAS enabled, with privacy on all talkgroups. They may be possibly using that, I have snagged talkgroups in use but are probably linked talkgroups and could be from anywhere.

Thanks for that minus one , I get that strong here and it's enhanced , but I did hear them talking about testing a dipole antenna on 152.1875 but that has also encrypted now with Ras ,it seems like its all going that way now.

Heard Bowland mrt on 164.1125mhz fm. This sounded like a repeater that could be on winter hill. The Ofcom register has this down as Mountain rescue england and wales.

Yes Bowland now seem to use this frequency when they need wide area coverage. Won't be long now before they go digital as one of their big fundraisers is to raise over £40.000 for a new digital radio system,
