I've noticed now most of them are using licensed 449, which is really annoying wish they could get a nationwide frequency like the train stations

The Sports Direct nearest me here is nothing but code numbers being read out for clothes and shoes. They had been using 446 channels 2 and 4, 2 for shoes, 4 for everything else, now it's just the one 449 frequency as far as I've heard.

It's just a guess but I expect they probably bought a license because they were sick of every numpty with a walkie talkie giving them dogs abuse on PMR446...

If I was running the show, I would set up any new stores on the licensed band and gradually migrate the existing stores over as and when they reported problems with QRM on PMR446.

Then someone could go onto e-bay, pick up a cheap uhf / vhf transceiver, tune it up and it would start again.

I didn't miss anything, almost anyone can by a handheld for less than £30 new off e-bay, computer programme it if need be to the tone and frequency for not just one shop, but several local shopwatches, factories etc, then go wreak havoc. Years ago I heard someone on a police frequency asking who wanted a pizza and what toppings did they want. Moving on to a licenced FM UH or VH frequency doesn't guarantee the stopping of interference completely.

I was wondering what handsets they were using in the Harrogate branch. I couldn't get close enough to tell without invading personal space.
