http://spectruminfo.ofcom.org.uk/spectr ... nd+licence

(Look at the site location, not the address)

I though "Colour Codes" related to digital transmissions.
KEY : = channel/stud | ~ = CTCSS/DCS | ^ = transmitter site | ¯ = overhead | * = trunked

Hi & thanks for that link,i googled "North Of England Zoological Society" & it comes up as Chester zoo,so it must be them, maybe they were'nt full noise quitening to me because they were using UHF handhelds indoors which would explain a lot as its 2 miles to the zoo from my QTH,also please can you enlighten me as to what "colour codes" mean??? :?

Digital radios,im still naive as to what you mean? :? with you saying colour codes are the new ctcss do you mean that what im hearing from Chester zoo is going through some sort of UHF repeater??

Assuming you heard NFM transmissions, what's in the WTR doesn't tie up as it implies digital transmissions, which you'd just hear as data noise on an analog scanner.

What do you get on the other 2 frequencies?

Ian im less than 2 miles from Chester zoo & zoo's are'nt in every town & i know what i heard was two women talking in "voice" mode, the only other zoo's around here are at Colwyn Bay & Knowesley safari park which i don't think has a "monkey house",anyway it was Minus1's post with the Ofcom link that more or less narrowed it down to being at Chester, where else could it be?? as it was simplex i was hearing,no repeater from what i could tell.

chester zoo only use trbo..you cannot pick up digital on a analogue scanner, unless someone has picked up an old radio, but im pretty sure that it was a diffrent freq..not 100percent but what you heard will not be a trbo radio its impossible.
