Yup i agree Ian, having listened to it for a while now, it does seem to be a form of shopwatch linked to a central CCTV room as i've heard them mention seeing people on the cctv's causing trouble.
I'm only able to ID them fully when in the town centre area, as at home i dont have my external discone up yet and i'm relying on a shoddy desktop antenna which isn't too good.

Can you tell me that the number afte the frequencies are? i.e. C103.5???

When you say ID - is there a way of identifiying who is using a frequency in a "professional" way - or do you just listen in and try and identify them from that?

The number after the freq is the CTCSS Tone, or for some of them the DCS tone. I'm sure Scott or Ian could explain them a lot better but i think they're used so that only users using that tone on the frequency can hear eachother. It's so others can use the same frequency if needed without hearing eachother. Again, it can be explained better but thats how i know it :)

Well i either ID using the Ofcom Spectrum Usage website or just listening in for clues as to what they can be. Or a bit of both sometimes!

Yes your correct mate, its just to define users, some freqs may have seven or eight users on each one has its own tone, ctcss or dcs. so my local uni has say 453.800 71.9 for the cleaners and 453.800 151.4 for security etc. one freq 2 different users both cant listen into each other

A couple of new freqs i found whilst out around Altrincham, it was actually rather quiet around there, i was expecting a few more freqs but, i'm happy with the few Close Calls i got.

Tesco PMR
453.5875MHz C110.9

Altrincham Shopwatch
455.6250MHz C94.8

Trafftax Taxi's
72.1500MHz C173.8 - Base
85.6500MHz C173.8 - Mobile

Help Needed on these:
203.0500MHz (possible Metrolink freq?)
428.5000MHz C67.0 Dee Communications? Anyone Familiar with it?

Thats all i have at the moment, the 203.0500MHz i pretty much always get in Eccles Town Centre, but i've no idea what it is. Could it be part of the Metrolink Trunked System? I've no idea. If anyone has any info on it, or Dee Comms, then i'd love to know!

Aaah thank you very much for clearing that up Ian! I did look about on Google and found they were a radio hire company, but weren't too sure what they were used for.
There was some construction work going on whilst i was there, so it could have possibly been for that? I usually keep my scanner on my belt or in my pocket on Search and Store, so i'm not too sure of the location where i get each hit.

A few freqs i caught whilst Close Calling in Manchester City Centre, i can't ID most of these at the moment, so if someone can ID them or has any information that'll be great.
They were all caught around Piccadilly Gardens, Church Street and close to Deansgate.

462.3625MHz C107.2
449.4750MHz C156.7
447.7875MHz C127.3
441.0250MHz C77.0
446.0812MHz C100.0 (Could be anyone)
447.6375MHz C82.5
137.9750MHz (Pagers?)
446.0937MHz C88.5 (Could be anyone)
459.6750MHz C151.4
453.1000MHz C131.8 (Sounds like Manchester Shopwatch)
446.0687MHz C67.0 (Argos)

Also found these whilst in Eccles:

159.9875MHz C131.8
167.2500MHz C77.0 (License Search comes back as NCP Parking)

If anyone can ID any of these, that'll be a great help, i think most are just shop comms, but i can't be totally sure.

Some good frequencies there...

sadly i can't seem to reach a lot of them ...even with my external twig and 7800xlt
Does anyone have some more definitive and general list, in particular ones for the Oldham/Tameside/Ashton Area.
I did have some interestng Shopwatch ones off TM1 last year ...sadly they are now producing the "digital" sound
so i guess encrypted {bnghd} {bnghd}
its really frustrating ...i program in a load of frequencies to my Butel and most turn out to be Trunk/MPT signals
and i end up locking them out ...over and over and over

is there anything worth listening to these days

or can these data bursts and streams be of any interest ..

Scanner Guru's REQUIRED :)
