Passenger plane unusual circling

Post by bpoolfc95 » 25 Nov 2011, 19:55

Hi, it was about quarter to 4 when a plane went over going in an easterly direction. I live right under Newcastles flight path and have never seen anything like this. It was very low, was going really slow and was circling. It was practicaly on its side at times. It was also pitched up but wasnt climbing. There was also what i presume to be fuel trailing behind it as a black mist. After a slow circle it dissapeared west. I looked on flight tracker and seen a jet 2 in the area. 10 minutes later, a jet 2 passed by in the usual pattern to NCL. Five minutes later, another plane flew very low easterly and into the distance. I think it was the same plane as the circling one. I was in a panic to get my camera running but my rechargable batteries where dead so i got no pictures. :x Anyone else see this. :?:

Not 100% sure on company, but it was a DC-10... I saw it fly over the lads school when I was picking them up.... heading inbound to the field. Then, I saw it heading south, then turn westbound and again into the field.

My eldest noticed it was pitched up slightly.... I switched the scanner on when I got in, but didn't hear anything!

I know exactly who it was. ZD948 VC10 Raf callsign ASCOT885, was on newcastle Mil 284.6 briefly then to 124.3750 on approach. Did a few circuits NDB taskings etc then RTB brize Norton via the east coast. Low level 10,000 until he hit Otringham near hull. He arrived at 15:11 at newcastle then left at 16:03, Also i can report that there was no problems no need to be in panic mode just exhaust when he pushed the throttle up :D

This incident took place before the VC10 was at newcastle, About 12:30 today we did have a falcon 20 from durham tees valley who had a fuel issue and stated he lost a bit must have a fuel leak were his words, the plane here was G-FRAK callsign MONICA 1, he was in the 323 complex and had to travel home after 1 hour airbourne on task.

erm NO   . Ordanance survey are the survey planes that do that type of work not us based in. I have seen the plane before .I have found the map plane will list at the bottom of the post for you. On this enquiry the lad asked what plane it was i replied that it was me onboard the raf VC10 all we did was a few approaches on the ILS etc., Then RTB to Brize Norton.

The planes that do the aerial mapping etc are
G-TASK and is owned by Reconnaissance Ventures Ltd, Ordnance Survey and is a nice
Cessna 404 Titan II. :D

Also G-NOSE the same type of aircraft

G-FIND and OY-SUN also there planes also.

I do believe there based at east midlands airport, but i could be wrong. We know them as the RVL group.
