A quick heads up, the gritters in South Tyneside got rid of their radios some time ago, they all use mobiles now, so don;t expect any comms from them this winter, or at anytime in the near future.

Sorry I can't help with others, but thought this was relevent.

Newcastle Council Gritters have not used radio for about 8/9 years . Now use mobile phone , GPRS tracking , SatNav routing ect. I 'm thinking about uploading my positions via APRS this year . I've got all the gear , just need to get it into some kind of portable form to move from vehicle to vehicle. Route will be available via http://aprs.fi ID to be confirmed , but will probably be GRITTER or similar depending on how many characters I've got to play with in the TinyTrak3. And maybe make myself available on 446PMR . Lets hope there's at least as much snow as last year .
