Most of these were from the 2013 Young Driver Test

AIR
121.075 Silverstone Tower (permanent assignment)
121.175 Heliport (temp assignment, CAA temp freq, might change)
130.675 Unsure precisely what this was assigned too

SILVERSTONE CIRCUIT
162.525/157.925 ~167.9 Race Control (and yes, that is same freqs as VHF Marine :98)
453.2/459.7 ~218.1 Race control to/from teams
453.975 ~71.9 Track/facility maintenance or similar
456.525 :4 ~110.9 Cleaners
456.675 :20 Race track ops? (NB at least 20 channels!)
169 simplex band worth checking too.

Numerous other freqs reported but not heard personally.

TEAMS
Team freqs can change every year and be in all kinds of weird and wonderful places, including home office, PMSE, and military bands.
Most are digital/tetra and some are encrypted.
Only analogue ones in 2013 were:
164.0375 DCS266 Toro Rosso
164.5375 DCS503 Toro Rosso
166.2125 DCS155 Pirelli

AIRWAVE
Site TVY115O (tall tower on site, 35m ASL)
TMO:091 392.4125 / 382.4125
TMO:173 394.4625 / 384.4625
(Possible that extra channels might be use over GP weekend)
Not that you can listen of course…

PMSE
Then there's all the PMSE (TV/Radio) freqs. See http://www.pmse.co.uk
141.20625 BBC R. Northampton

N.B. All this activity will create lots of spurious signals which can get confusing!

Minus1 - can you perhaps tell me where you got the specific AIRWAVE info from please? Is there a website somewhere maybe with this detail including the frequencies?

Others for Silverstone (used most of the year round, not just BGP):
163.0625 & 158.5625 Breakdown
163.675 & 159.175 Red Cross
164.5125 & 160.0125 Race Control
169.0875 Gates
446.2125 Security
453.200 & 459.700 Drive School
453.450 Security
453.925 & 460.425 Security
453.975 & 460.475 Medical
455.4875 & 460.7875 Cleanevent
455.7625 & 461.0125 Security
456.350 & 461.850 Security
456.3875 Drive School
456.525 & 460.025 Security
456.875 & 462.375 Security
456.9875 Heli-Air
456.9875 Drive School
461.450 Security
461.4625 Security
461.8875 Drive School

Marshals Posts (This is now an Encrypted Nexedge Trunked Network)
165.9875 & 170.7875
166.5625 & 171.3625
166.7000 & 171.5875
166.9750 & 171.7750

For F1:
Toro Rosso are now Nexedge digital for 2014 (probably using some of the same freqs as listed by Minus 1) but also try:
164.100 & 158.375
165.075 & 158.625
165.1125 & 158.275
164.5375 & 158.300
167.600
152.2375

McLaren are also Nexedge digital for 2014 but encrypted (and they rarely re-use the same freqs from year to year):
152.275 & 460.800
152.900
461.050
152.075 & 457.425
154.050
450.225

Everyone else uses TETRA including FIA (420-430Mhz base, 410-420Mhz input). This includes Lotus who have up until 2014 had some analogue comms for car-to-pit. Most if not all TETRA users will be encrypted too. Pirelli are now TETRA as well for 2014.

Most GP2 and GP3 teams are also now Nexedge digital. Those still using analogue are likely to be:

DAMS
457.375 & 467.4125
459.2875 & 469.050

RAPAX
167.375 & 171.9375
167.250 & 171.8125

Manor MP
163.100 & 158.925
163.725 & 160.0125

Venezuela GP
164.6125 & 159.725
166.5125 & 160.4875

Trident GP3
162.5875 & 157.5875
162.125 & 157.850
162.875 & 157.3125

Status GP3
165.5875 & 171.0125
165.775 & 171.425
165.8375 & 171.450

The UHF band will be absolutely crammed with TV & Radio OB and other media usage.

You'll also find lots of use of the old HO and Marine band with (usually simplex) F1 and hospitality related comms.

The OFCOM Sitefinder website shows the sites, and though it is not bang up to date, I've only come across a couple of sites that have been relocated (one because the tower block it was on got demolished).

http://sitefinder.ofcom.org.uk/

This used to be open to access, but you have to register now, and it's a bit rubbish in terms of usability.

There was a dataset you could download for use with Google maps, I don't know if it is still there.

The freqs you have to figure out for yourself, they're not THAT helpful. ;)

Arqiva PMSE licence for Silverstone (I haven't attempted to compare this with the previous lists)

http://spectruminfo.ofcom.org.uk/spectr ... nd+licence

If this is like previous such licences it may temporary (for this year only)

I've heard that used by the Single Seater Experience, on the infield

Thanks Minus1.

Yes the PMSE license has just appeared this week, and I assume will be to just cover the Blancpain event this weekend. There was similar temp license for last weekend at Brands Hatch.
The MRTC license covers the relatively new Nexedge system for the marshals posts, now used at several circuits.

You're right, many of the simplex freqs at silverstone appear to be multi-use. They'll be used by Security at major events at the weekends, and then the drive school / experiences during the week and when there's no event.

Most of these frequencies are now out of date: Silverstone staff and security moved across to to a trunked MotoTRBO Capacity Plus system in May. They're currently using Short Term Hire frequencies, so maybe they'll migrate back to the frequencies listed in License 0831546 in due course.

Frequencies are:
453.1875 & 459.6875
453.4625 & 459.9625
453.7125 & 460.2125
453.8125 & 460.3125
453.8500 & 460.350
453.9125 & 460.4125
454.4125 & 460.9125
455.4750 & 460.775
455.6125 & 462.1125

They're all using Colour Code 7.

As said before, all security and Silverstone staff were using DP4400 UHF in cap plus I believe. There was at least 9 talkgroups that I know of in use by the security teams alone, probably more.

Marshall's had Mototrbo DP3400's on VHF.

I don't think I saw an analogue radio in use at all.

Scott.

Agreed.

A few of the GP2 and GP3 teams were still using analogue. Toro Rosso pit channels were analogue too. But most of the circuit and event related radio was MotoTRBO, most of the F1 was TETRA, and most of the GP2/GP3 was Nexedge digital

Some marshalls and Medical are in the clear on VHF. I live only a few.miles from the circuit and listen all year round. If you're.still interested in the freqs let me know and I'll copy them off my 1802 in the truck for you.
