Re: Donnington Race Park
I was at Donington in July and noted the following:
164.5125 127.3Hz and 160.0375 D115 Race Control
164.775 88.5 Race Control
166.7625 146.2 and 171.5625 146.2 Marshals
Many of the race teams use Short Term Hire frequencies so try them at race weekends.
If you're after specific racing freqs try http://groups.yahoo.com/group/uk_motors ... equencies/

It's also worth looking somewhere you won't expect.
JFMG have been using some VHF Marine channels for PMSE at venues like Donnington, Silverstone, etc.
Being a long way from the sea, there's not going to be conflict with ships.
The WTR doesn't give precise locations or freqs for "Coastal Radio" licences, but you can work them out by recursive searches.

Re: Donnington Race Park
So I've come across some marine band freqs in use at racing circuits....do you have any specific examples you can share?

Re: Donnington Race Park
No, but if you play around with the WTR you can find some
Start with full the marine band, zoomed in on a circuit, then narrow it down by binary search (halve the range) (again zoomed in) to get the freq.
JFMG freqs outside of JFMG bands tend to be transient (they come and go as events occur), so it's worth checking any circuit you are going to just before an event.

Re: Donnington Race Park
Sorry but I would not say that, I am in Derbyshire and get the CG on 16 and 15, 12, 84, 86 about S 5 and in Worksop the CG on 0, 16 comes in well too.Minus1 wrote: Being a long way from the sea, there's not going to be conflict with ships.
.
When there a life on I hear the south coat and France sometime on the VHF Marine. I may just be in the right places to hear them. Sometime where I hear the GC you would not think you would get them
But thank you for the head up's I will pay it more attention localy too, in sted of just having channel I know I get in the radio

Re: Donnington Race Park
The next opportunity to catch a lot of racing related radio traffic will be 2/3 November withe the Britcar event. Most teams will use simplex Short Term Hire frequencies and many of these will be digital.

Re: Donnington Race Park
Will anyone be in the locale of Donington Park next Tues and fancies having scan about for new frequencies?
There's a big test day for British F3 and British GT cars which is open to the public.
I can supply likely frequencies to be used if you can tell me which ones you find are actually being used on the day, as I'll be at work .
TIA
Jim

Re: Donnington Race Park
So 87.7 is a common 'event' broadcast frequency used at sporting events (1602khz is also used for the same thing). The FM transmitter is new for 2014 at Donington - it's about time as the noise often drowns out the PA system. You'll often find 87.7 is linked to a JFMG frequency such as 457.275 (or 457.26875 or 457.28125 to be more precise)

Re: Donnington Race Park
I live near the circuit and work at the airfield, the only frequency commonly heard on track days etc is 166.7625 (C127.3) which is the Marshalls, at the recent BTCC event I also heard 167.2625 (C146.2) and 166.9750 (C88.5) which were some sort of command, organising cleaners, maintenance and ticket booths etc and 456.750 which was Security. There was a plethora of digital stuff. HTH
