how are you from the track when you pick up these frequencies,i'm 23 mile north of the circuit and get a really belting signal on my uniden 3500 with roof cone antenna..how about you lot.

Well you can here up at M1 J28 and in Ashfield, J29 it comes in at 5/9. you can hear it in Derby city. it just depends on your staion and the antenna.

There also a Decode list on the net for racing codes.

hope it helps

same here for EMA and the race track. I have moded my antenna by 2 meters and by 1 meter hight, to see what happen's.

I know it hard to beleve, but it the same for waddington. for waddington if i just go about 500 yeard away, I can pick it up much better that from my QTH. but by moving just that little for EMA, and Donington it make a diffrent.

** Think about moble phone, now in some rooms they may not work, but if you just move about 1 meters in the smae room. how you can make the call. it about sight of line.

Question for EMA for you listening VHF or UHF Relay channles

it's all to do with 'line of sight'
HF travels well, VHF and UHF and more line of sight, UHF being more so..
best just to get a good dual band amateur aerial on the chimney stack fed with some RG-213 or better.

line of sight though brings me donington race track bigpimp but not east midlands all the time which seems strange..and they're right next door to each other. now whether the race track has a better system than east midlands i would doubt it.

also depends on the aerial system they use..
you can buy commercial UHF stacked aerials that radiate a signal a certain way, east mids probably has a downward firing array as to keep the signal on the ground and not in the air, the race track is a larger all terrain area probably uses a different system and just radiates a random signal.

bit like broad marsh and victoria center, they only want the signal in the centers so they use downward firing aerials, as they have the height for the aerial, but a normal aerial would cover miles even at low power..
so low power downwards is better for those below, but crap outside.

hence why i can'r hear anything at east midlands either, but donnington is banging in..

the downward pointing antennas and low power explains everything now you mentioned it bigpimp :D
i could never get broadmarsh or any football matches from the nottingham way..now the low power explains why :?
by the way i tried replying to this in google chrome and using a smilie..but each time i clicked on a smilie it shot back to the top of the page..maybe not compatible :?:
